The Institute

The Institute of Family and Systemic Psychotherapy

is a private institute founded in 2008 with the aim of promoting systemic psychotherapy for families, couples and individuals, training systemic therapists and providing systemic counselling for couples, families and other systems.

The key roles of

the institute

Incorporating systemic family psychotherapy into treatment of mental illness and preventing or minimalizing the consequences of mental illness in individuals and their families in line with current guidelines for treating mental illnesses.

Development of systemic family psychotherapy training programs for professionals who work with individuals and families with members who are being treated for a mental illness.

The development of treatment models for coping with effects of violence, sexual and emotional abuse in the family.

Educating professionals from the fields of medicine, psychology, social work and education about the importance of family context for the course and success of treatment of chronic mental and somatic illnesses, for the success of educational programs for children and young people and the success of offering of psychological help to individuals and families in crises.

The institute was founded by a group of experts in clinical psychology, psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry who are fully trained systemic family therapists, trained by trainers from the Institute of family therapy, London and the Tavistock clinic London. Their training is accepted by the Training Institute Chamber, European Family Therapy Association (EFTA).
